More than a century after her birth, Mexican artist and icon Frida Kahlo continues to haunt audiences. Now a new touring exhibit showcases some 50 still lifes and self-portraits, some never before on public view in the United States.

“The best of her paintings are the ones in which she confronted the difficult physical and emotional realities in her relationship to [her husband, famed muralist Diego Rivera] and in her health,” says Hayden Herrera, co-curator.
